Do you guys siphon your gravel? Is there a benefit or non benefit to doing this?
Also anyone using any products they would recommend for making this process easier? Thanks

I am new, but I'm under the impression that it is advisable not to sift through your gravel. You can stir up damaging things, and damage beneficial things.

I have a FW tank and I pull up tar out of the gravel. So with that said I would say definitely siphon gravel.

If you clean the gravel along with the water change (weekly, every two weeks or once a month) the bad stuff doesn't have time to build up.

But If you have a 2 year old or older deep sand bed and you move it too much you'll probably kill some fish and possibly crash the tank

I siphone mine every week with my water change, so it never has time to build up enough toxins
