So I bought a Sith Lord Acan frag off Mr.Coral on eBay. As pictured it was a bright red color at first, after a few days it went orange. Any ideas?

Also, it was bright red in my tank for the first few days, looks even more orange then the picture shows

Yes I do. 2 165w dimmable Chinese fixtures. I have a few other acans and none of the others seemed to lose any color

Yeah, I did put them in a partially shaded area, maybe I'll put them completely in the shade with my green goblin favia and see how it does

Gotcha, don't plan on switching to LEDs anytime soon so that rules that out, guess I'll go with the first suggestion and move em in the shade.

Run more blues than whites for led. I use radion pros and if I don't use the maximum color program they look crappy.

I have a bunch of acans under LEDs (Radion Pros) and I never had a problem with red acans them turning orange like I have heard so many people talk about (and I have a LOT of red or red-based rainbow acans - probably 7 lords with red as the main color). Maybe there is something else going on besides just the lighting? I know a lot of LEDs put out absurd amounts of PAR that gets focused pretty intensely - so maybe they are just getting way too much light?

Yeah I suppose that's a possibility. As soon as my lights kick on, I'm gonna move em in the shade and give it a few days

LEDs don't work like most other lights. The lights only put out a narrow spectrum of light. It's not like t5. Sanjay yoshi has some great articles if your interested. I assumed you had the Chinese blue and white lights. If you have full spectrum the other guy was correct.

Thanks, yes I have the Chinese blue and white LEDs. I put it in the shade yesterday so we'll see what happens
