Saw this six legged thing in the tank today. It looks like a sea start but it moves really fast and it's legs move like an octopus. It has black and white stripes and is above the large sea star in the picture.

In addition to identifying it, I would like to know if it's something I should keep or try to get rid of it.

Thanks, Alan

Prettty cool! I’d keep it.

The asterina I’d get rid of.

Little brittle star...Very good for the tank. The other two smaller stars are asterina starfish and some will eat corals. Suggest these get removed.
Thanks all. I did a little more research and it looks like it might be a banded serpent sea star. Going to keep it!

A cool hitch hiker but not likely a serpent star, these macro stars come in a wide variety of coloration.
