Got a new fire fish two days ago super healthy and a good size. Today woke up and it had been half eaten. I figure it was my six line because he’s looking fat and I only have four fish in my tank a tang, 2 clownfish and a six line. It’s a bummer because I really loved the look of this fish I ended up feeding it to my nem. So I just want to know if this has happened to anyone else. Also what fish can I get that the six line won’t mess with and will also get a long with the other fish I’ve listed. I have a 45g that’s full of coral and is well established.

Also before anyone says it the yellow tang is a baby and I have minimal rock work in my tank he seems to be happy and not stressed at all.

The six line can be terrors. It wouldn't surprise me if it killed it but not for food. It would have picked the dead body

I didn’t see any fish bullying the fire fish and the night before he seemed to be perfectly fine. Meaning I didn’t see any signs of sickness no white spot, velvet, etc. this morning I wake up and the fish is half eaten. So what I’m thinking happened is over night the six line killed it and picked at the dead body. I just watched a video and Mr. Saltwater on YouTube seemed to have had the same issue. But regardless I just want to know what fish would be able to hold it own in my tank anginst the six line. I’m not to big on fish I’m more into coral but I’m tired of people coming over and being like your tank is empty lol.

Six lines are notorious tank terrorists. I personally wouldn't keep one. What I would 100% do if I had one though, would be to put new fish into an acclimation box in the aquarium, and observe the sixline's behavior toward the new for a few days.

All speculation unless you see it get killed.

Everything has a go at anything that dies in a tank.

My yellow tang died in the morning on a Saturday. Wasn’t anything left of him by the next morning.

this is so true, so many people jump to conclusions. six lines can be aggressive yes, and it could be the six line. but it could be a few others things too.
imo most fish dont pick on other fish once lights are out, in my main tank, i will actually add a new fish to my frag tank first, get him used to feeding and fat and healthy. then at night once lights are out and room is dark ill add him to my main tank.

i once added a new tang during the day and all hell broke lose, felt so bad for that tang. i now do it at night and all is well.
