Six Line Wrasse aggression

So, is a solution to add another one of them so they use their aggression on each other? Does this work?

Unfortunately No. You’ll only have one dead 6-Line doing that.

Most of them went in together. I have a large Lineatus that he leaves alone and the same for a reasonably large Dusky. He hates the Yellow Tail Tamarin. He hates the Black Leopard, which went in at the same time, more and he gets chased back in the sand if he comes out.

I had read of quite a few people on here having two and that seeming to be a potential solution. I might have to try and remove him if he keeps on creating such stress levels in the tank.

In a big enough tank you might be able to get away with two but I’m guessing you need 180g + to pull that off with a 6’er. Makes sense that he’s targeting the two he considers to be his primary competition for food 1st. If you hope to add more wrasse and depending on tank size any additional fish you may have to re-home him.

Yep, I would grab a trap and pull him ASAP. I was lucky and got mine in a 2-Liter bottle trap before even baiting it but be prepared for it to take a bit to get him out.

6lines do not play nice with other wrasses. This is well known...... Remove him. It doesn't matter if you add a second....there is always the potential for your sixline to kill your other fish and they can do it quick.

Not only will a six line harrass other wrasses, it will also go after other species with similar body shapes. He needs to live in a sump or be rehomed.

A wrasse you can buy anywhere for a 20 spot, harassing more delicate fish. It should be a NO brainer, to pull him out at the first site of it happening. Way to many experiences on here of them bullying to even think twice about removing him and making him live the rest of his life in the sump.

They shouldn't even be classified as a wrasse.. more like classify them as Devils SPAWN!

They don't work for everyone that is for sure. However, they are a pretty solid work horse should the system be built to sustain them. Having said that if the wrasse is already showing signs of aggression towards existing fish it would make the most sense to catch and release to a new home that can support it properly. May take a couple days to catch but you will in the end.

I personally love the fish and have had great luck with them in previous tanks. Current tank it isn't an option. Wish you the best of luck!

The only solution is to remove the sixline, ASAP. As a general rule, Pseudocheilinus wrasses should not be mixed with any other wrasses.

I think you're seeing a bit of a trend here towards removing the little turd!!

I've had luck in the past with adding some floating food and then a quick snatch with a decent-sized net. If you miss you may not get a second chance so be confident in your technique and go for it

Nope, 6 line aggression is well known and lots of folks have had to get rid of them. In general they are poor community tank mates. Get rid of it, especially since you have other wrasses. Many other wrasses will co-exist just not the lined varieties.
