Six line wrasse pecking hammer coral

So my six line wrasse keeps pecking at my branching hammer....I thought they were "reef safe" ? Is he attacking it thinking he sees pest? Or is he trying to eat the coral? If he's trying to eat it I will re home the six line I love my corals to much.

Maybe he’s just removing some lunch?
They are really good at that.
I assume he’s not directly pecking the polyps?
Or that is a rehome.

He's going up right to the center of the hammer and pecking at it

He swims by it and almost acts like it's a threat does this side shimmer kinda swim and then pecks it
