So I️ bought the last fish for my current aquarium. And I️ have to say this fish has me freaked out so much already. Not sure if I️t has weird behavior patterns or if there is an issue.

When he first went in the tank he was super active all over the place, that was yesterday. I️ saw him at like 5am and he seemed to be active in the light. Then a few hours later he’s hiding behind the return tube from my hang on back refugium. Then I️ see him, a couple hours later, laying on the sand bed, after I️ watched him swim around for a bit.

Is this normal behavior for the six line wrasse?

The tank inhabitants are two clowns, 2 chromis and a turbo snail, oh and a crap ton of bristleworms. Corals include 13 or so different zoanthids and two rhodactus. Everyone else is happy healthy and normal as usual. Also, I️ haven’t seen any bullying with the new addition, that my four year old named chocolate chip, either.

Thanks for your help!

It is very common for wrasse to lay on the bed. Lil less for a sixline but still not bad. As long as it gets up;) they ate usually constantly active. Finding a crevice to sleep in at night. Could be he got skiddish and hid for few. Especially if hes new. Hope that helps. :)

If a sixline is laying on the sand it should be up against a rock or coral for cover. Sixlines don't bury in the sand, so if one is laying down on the open sand, he is struggling.

All other behavior is normal for a sixline.

Sadly I️ got up this morning to a fish stick, eaten by the bristle worms.
