I got a six line wrasse yesterday and when I first put it in the tank it swam around for probably ten seconds and then went behind the overflow box. Has been there ever since. Is this normal?

Kinda. While six lines are an outgoing fish, most fish will hide for the first few days. I wouldn’t let it get into the overflow box

you acclimated him before you put him in the tank, didn’t you?
If so, then he’s just scared. I’ve had mine for about a year. He stays hid a lot but comes out to feed. He will come out from time to time and swim all over the tank getting his exercise. He is so fast !

Ok, it is a hob overflow so he is hiding inbetween the glass and the back of the box.

I got a six line yesterday as well and after acclimating and putting him in the tank he would not swim whatsoever. He hid under the heater at the bottom of the tank barely moving, honestly was very upset and wasn't sure he'd make it. Today however he's all over tank, very active. I'm guessing stress from new environment.

I had a 6 line, didn’t see him for like 2 months after putting him in my tank then he popped back out.
