Hi,
I was considering purchasing a 6 line wrasse. I thought it looked cool and found out it would potentially work for me. I will list what I have in terms of livestock and rock/ sand in my tank to see if it would be an option.

35 gallon
Clownfish pair
mixed corals (soft and stony)
Royal gramma
live rock
crushed shell and sand substrate
blue legged hermit crabs
(I also hear they eat some snail types and I have a bit of a hitchhiker snail infestation so extra snacks?)

Let me know if this is a compatible arrangement or not. If not, what are your suggestions?
P.S. I have a mesh lid over the tank

I’ve heard six lines can sometimes be obnoxious. I plan on getting a Melanurus Wrasse.

My little six line is a sweetheart. If anything, my damsel is a little as*h*le. I say go for it!

Should be fine with your existing crew.

It may be a little late but also think of what tug may want to add after it. 6 line can be an butt to another wrasse or other fish you may want in the future.

go for it, as long as you can add a net to cover the tank, these guys are prone to jump.

A lot of people have had bad luck with 6 lines being aggressive. I guess they are hit or miss. I've had my 6 line for almost 2 years and he's never shown aggression towards any fish. He was the first in the tank and 7 fish have been added since him. Great little fish and helps keep the tank pest free.

Our six-line is a model citizen, it's our male Melanurus that is the wretched brat but hubby says that's cuz he needs to get some from the female. On that note, the female was added 49 days ago and until we had to scrape the tank and restart it 2 days ago we thought she was dead. Now all 4 wrasses (male and female melanurus, six-line and cleaner) are out and about constantly. The melanurus male was superb at cleaning up the vermitid snails but I would worry about their size in a 35 gallon. Our male is 5" and the female is 4" and I have seen a male at my LFS that is nearly 8" long - he is a permanent resident in their coral tank.
