Have 2 in frag tanks, they constantly hunt and have never hurt the corals (many varieties).

What do you think of Six line wrasses? Good or Bad? Share your horror stories or model citizens.
I have an observation, if the sixline is introduced fist it becomes territorial, if added after other wrasse it is normally okay, when adding multiples 5-10 into 1 big tank 1000 plus litres they seem to get on well enough, they can become agressive especially in small tanks.
I would love a list of wrasses that do not burrough into sand as we have bare bottom tanks.

I love them. One of my favorites. So long as you stock your tank strategically, they shouldn’t be a problem. They are active, intelligent (mine knows every square inch of the tank, and anytime there’s something new or something gets moved, she inspects it thoroughly and then comes back to check on it every couple minutes), and are great for pest control. Absolute icon and legend, when stocked appropriately.

Super for pest control. Working hard all day.
Worst jerk ever, chasing and bullying lots of other fish.
I will never ever put one in my DT again !!!

My melanarus wrasse has eaten two elegance corals so far.
I think you may have misinterpreted your Melanorus eating critters off your Elegance. I also have seen him bite my elegance but it was in a specific place and never saw any damage to it (unlike my Moorish idol who took real bites of it).

No, we watched him eat off the polyps one by one.

Are you sure? they do not eat corals, I have had two, and seen many in my friend’s tanks and they are all model citizens.
Yes, we watched him singlehandedly destroy one in the span of about a day. The skeleton now adorns a spot in my "greatest hits" collection on one wall.

Why did we let him? First, we hadn't caught him the act and thought something else was up with the coral. Then by the time we did catch him - it was more or less on death's door. Third, we couldn't catch the little sucker...

Yes, I know. And urchins don't hunt horseshoe crabs, either. If there's a chance of something exhibiting abnormal behavior - it's probably in my tank...

Super peaceful so far, maybe 5 months in. He was added later and gets along with everyone just fine. Doesn’t nip corals. Hoping it doesn’t bother the nudis I added last week.
