Hi guys

so my sixlane is giving problem. everytime trying to jump. my tank is a reefmax nano tank. with 3 compartment. 1st - protein skimmer, 2nd cleaning stone, sponge, carbon filter etc. 3rd compartment is the water pump. so 2nd and 3rd compartment is connected. Sixline jumped into 3rd one and went to 2nd compartment where i had stones etc and he got stuck in between. I had to switch off everything, take out the entire setup, stones etc and release him.

Now im worried that he would jump again so i placed a net kinda thing on top. Is it ok to leave the net like that? will it reduce the light absorption?

please see attached screenshots.

It won't hurt anything. Having a wrasse without some form of cover is a disaster waiting to happen.

thanks @James M and @Jesterrace i'll just leave that net there forever then. The only reason i asked because when I remove the net i feel like the tank is getting more brighter..

for a 15 G small tank this inbuilt light is enough or do you recommend something else?

#reefsquad can you share your .02 here please? it is advisable to leave the net like this 24/7? I purposely bought a net which has slightly more gap in between so that it won't be fully covered.

Do you have anything that needs a lot of light ?

You have to have a net with Wrasse. I just had a fem Wrasse get out of a very tightly secured QT. They will all jump at some point. That's my .02 I keep about a dozen wrasse for what it's worth.

White, plastic eggcrate that comes in 2' x 4' sheets works great with some 1/4" plastic bird/bug mesh ziptied to it works great on my QT's and DT.

Nets are a must for any fish IMO. wrasse are notorious for jumping.

The nets or screen tops block about 2% of your light according to a test BRS did

I would also be concerned that you nem is not getting enough light to survive long term with the stock light from what I can see of it.

thanks guys :) I think ill just leave the net like that all the time. I don't think it will affect anything that much
