so i have a 20 gallon saltwater tank gling had a clownfish for awhile as his tank mates died but i feel comfortable adding stuff to the tank again so i added a sixline wrasse they have only been together a few days but behavour wise so far so good but my trouble this morning is the sixline wokeup when the tank lights turned on and he has some sort of residue stuck
to his forehead its white or clear i cant tell as he keeps darting into the rocks

Without seeing a pic, my initial guess would be that it's part of his mucous cocoon stuck to it's head. It happens to my wrasses all the time. Here's a neat video I found of a 6 line in a cocoon.

it may have been he's all cleaned off now he got it off himself somehow can you keep shrimp with these guys and coral i may add a shrimp soft corals and
more hermits and snails but i think the 2 fish i have are quite enough for this tank and would a wrasse attack new snails and crabs shrimp or just new fish

These guys are generally considered reef safe but can pick at small snails, crustaceans, etc. A larger shrimp and softies should be fine. They also have aggressive tendencies, especially as they mature and get bigger. Just be mindful of the general nature of the 6 line.

if he grows up with my clown already there should the clownfish be fine

It does not work like that unfortunately. The six line might behave but the chances decreases as the size of the tank decreases. In a 20 gallon these fish types might work out, but if the clown stakes out a lot of territory or the wrasse becomes aggressive as they commonly do it will not work out, despite that fact that the wrasse has been housed with any specific fish long term.
Good on you for not adding any more fish to the system though.
Larger shrimp, snails and hermits should be fine.
