I see the sixline and wonder why the hate . Wonder why everone takes them out there tanks? Mr.saltwater even took his sixline out (my hero by the way) :D

i love both of mine! Yes I have two of them! Of course i intorduced them last at the same time. Now they just swim together.

mine doesn't seem aggressive at all.. he just wanders around looking for food all day.. very cool addition IMO..

It's because you haven't added a fish yet. They are always a good tank mate with whatever you currently have. It's when you add.

they are beautiful fish and i love the way they cruise the tank but they grow up to be complete bullies (to use a better word) i have a firefish, about a month ago the fishfish disappeared completely, i though i had lost it up until a few days ago when he made an appearance when i was feeding the tank but as soon as my sixline caught sight of him he was chased away. now i only ever see the firefish when i feed the tank for a few seconds before he's chased away by the sixline. i already new the sixline was a bully from previously adding fish but he was never that bad plus he had coexisted with the fish fish for about 6 months before the current problems, so the time has come for him to come out, i am going to replace him with more peaceful flashers and fairy wrasse.

so yeh take the advice from me and others if you want a sixline they have to go in last!

Our six line is inseparable from our pygmy angel,I think they are dating. They however think that they own the whole 150gal.Our six line even swims into large anemones and hangs out in the tentacles like our clowns, and the clowns hate it.

Many people who report that they are model reef citizens are still small or juvi, but wait till they grow....I had mine for over six years and a fat 3'5" it became an absolute terror to any other wrasse(new or not) or newbie...even attacked a Melanarus which was 5" ...I will never add a wrasse from that family again which includes Mysteries...there are always exceptions with individual fish, but many I have spoken too have the same experience as mine..

I added a large six line wrasse "LAST" and it was still a bully to the established fish in my tank. It almost killed my Percula clowns. I took it out and replaced it with a Sunburst Anthias. No regrets. I enjoy my lower aggression fish.

Exactly.

It's simply the nature of the genus, and especially this species. Once mature, they are very aggressive. A mature, established sixline will prevent you from adding any new fish additions to a tank, and may even decide it no longer likes the current fish its been residing with.

Considering how many alternative reef safe genera of wrasses they are which do not exhibit this behavior, a sixline is simply not worth the risk if you desire a wrasse.

They do have their place, however. If I had a frag tank, it would certainly be one fish (and possibly the only fish) in that tank.

I have on in my tank and he's a model citizen...

My Green Wrasse is another story - been trying to catch him for weeks.... he's going back to the store.
He's the biggest jerk you have ever seen.
He chases my gobies into rocks all day long.

my six line even puffs up at me sometimes...ill be sitting there watching and he will come out, look at me, strike a pose with fins all out in there magnificent color display. as if to say I got u boss ...I wont let any other nasty fish's in our reef..... he postures up at anything that moves..... really pretty and usefull... but I want him out...and that's not an easy project even in my little 40b. if anyone has any good suggestions on there removal this would be a good place to share that info.

yea my sixline is a murderer he kills anything that I add to the tank with relentless harrassment. He has lately developed a new "move" that is pretty insane to watch. He starts at the bottom of the tank and locates one of my chromies. then he bullets at it from 2 feet away and does a whirl around smacking it with his tail like a karate round house kick. It doesnt look painful at all, but im sure it is quite traumatizing and now the chromie school hides in the rocks mostly.

I have had mine for a couple years now, he is almost three inches long and he is wonderful. I even added a pajama cardinal and two yellowtail damsels about three months ago and he is fine with them. This is the first I have even read about them being mean to other fish except for other wrasses. I have read that they will not tolerate other wrasses so I never planned to get another one of those. Interesting, I must have gotten lucky.
