Tanks been cycled for a couple weeks, so I purchased a medium 9"-12" snowflake eel last night. I was a worried about the little guy when I tried to acclimate he went nuts and escaped the bag as I was adding my tank water to the bag. He spent a good 3 hours maybe more exploring the entire tank and swimming at the surface. This morning I couldn't find him until about an hour ago he poked his head out and he ate a chunk of krill so I'm not too worried about him now.

Sweet! Definitely need a good top on the tank. I have a snowflake in my reef and use have a screen lid that works well. Mine moves around the tank daily. Everytime I go to find him he's in a new spot looking for me to feed him. They are neet

I have a top I can put on at night, but it blocks my lights, and is open in the back. I've read quite a few people and have known someone who has kept a snow flake in a large open tank with out problems. He didn't try to to escape last night, and at all today. I'm hoping that the tank being 4' by 17.5" by 24" tall that he won't bother trying. He has a ton of places to hide including a very large cave with multiple openings. Fingers crossed but I may end up building an egg crate or screen cover. I don't have a sump so my HOB skimmer may cause figment issues with a screen. I really like the open top look so hopefully he doesn't cause any problems.
