Is it supposed to change to white? A cup of that stuff is hard to get, especially since it's going away. So I just got a few pieces and put in a glass test tube. As soon as I added a few drops of peroxide, it fizzled and turned white... What's that mean?Test for it.
Take a sample of the so called red stuff in a cup with tank water, add 1ml of Hydrogen Peroxide to it, shake lightly and wait.
If the color changes it's cyano if not we talking spirulina.
But ssssssssst don't tell anyone else this secret
If you do I come and take your tank away

It could.
Spirulina is a algae and it will decrease when your tank matures.
Result is that your skimmer takes some of it out.
I did noticed your test results and your No3 was 0,0 right?
Can you do one more test for me on the No3 and when you at it Po4 as well.

Ok, since tour tank is still young it's weird that your No3 is undetectable.
Must be the API test kit.
See if you can havecitctested by a LFS in the next few days.
Regular No3 # sits around 2ppm and you can play with it later to raise it as your corals and bacteria will thank you for it.

Not too weird considering the amount of algae and cyano I had. It was sucking it from the water and storing it in the algae growth. Same concept as chaeto in a fuge. It's just this week the amount is down far enough I am not emberrassed of the tank. So in theory, I should start to see a rise in both NO3 and NO4.
Spiraling an cyano bacteria are very closely related. Both are in fact bacteria. However, spiralina will not respond to chemiclean. I'm personally glad you aren't going that route.
Both are kinda fuled by the same things. Po4 , light, co2, and dissolved organics.
IMO , your on the right track. Normal cleaning , blowing off rocks, and water changes. Keep feeding the fish healthfully and imo don't skimp. Healthy fish are good.
Ugly phases are normal.sounds like this is yours. It'll pass.
