looking for some advice. starting yet another new build that will include a 90 gal cube plumbed to a synergy reef 34 sump. also a 20 gal frag tank plumbed into the system. lightly stocked at first with mostly lps corals. looking at buying a regal 150 int 6 in skimmer (https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/regal-150int-6-internal-protein-skimmer-varios-reef-octopus.html). my main question is is it worth paying the money for the dc pump regal vs lets say buying the classic 200 int (https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/reef-octopus-classic-200int-8-internal-protein-skimmer.html).

Personally, I think the idea of a DC pump on a skimmer is kind of silly. If you need to adjust the skimmer, use the adjustment for the water level, not the pump. The Venturi is designed to work with a constant flow. Messing with the flow kind of defeats the purpose. Manufacturers may disagree with me, but that's my 2¢
