Am looking to buy a new skimmer for my 90 gal? Don't really know which way to go? I seem to like the reef octopus but don't know which one. I don't want to go to small but one the same hand don't want to go to big, if there is a such thing? Any advice anyone?

The Super Reef Octopus XP2000 or the 3000 would be a good choice and if you plan on upgrading in the future the larger one would work on a bigger tank as well.
Reef Dynamics also has a new line of skimmer that looks to be as good if not better for a great price and are sold locally too.

I mean I don't really want to go no more than 300 I have been looking at the 6" recirculating or the 6" pinwheel don't really no the difference between the two or if they are sufficient but they have good reviews

I don't guess. I'm open to either. I would have to plumb the external in and out of the sump right?

I have a Aqua C EV150 for sale.

It's used looking to get $100.00 no pump $150.00 w mag drive 9.5 Only selling cause I bought a complete Lifereef setup.

Yes, that is correct. I will go ahead and say that Reef Octopus and SWC skimmers are pretty much the best bang for the buck.

I run a SWC 160 cone on my 90. There is an SWC 180 skimmer for sale on here somewhere for $300, which would be plenty for a 90 and then some. How big is your sump? and how much room do you have under the stand? how tall?

My sump is a 40 gal and my stand is like 26" tall tight from the sump. The skimmer chamber is 9" x 11" tight

The Cadlights skimmer looks really good too. I here nothing but great reviews, but it just hasnt been around long enough to show long term performance. There are a lot of skimmers out there, and at $300 you should have plenty of options. But like I said before, I think SWC and Reef Octopus is the way to go.

I dont have any experience with those, but there are a few here in the club that do....ill let them chime in
