Skimmer Advice

I need to purchase a skimmer and trying to stay within a budget. I'm looking at the Bubble-Magus NAC5.5. I have a 60 gallon tank with 30 gallon sump. Wondering if I'm on track, I can pickup this skimmer for $155.00 shipped. Any advice will help! :neutral: Thanks

Hello and welcome to r2r. I have a Bubble Magus NAC5e, a hob set up on my tank. Right now I am still going through my cycle, but the skimmer has already been pulling crud from what has come off my rock. From others that have used the bubble magus skimmers people seem to be happy with them. I would suggest if you are able to going with the NAC6 which is the next size up from what you are looking at is rated for 80 to 135 gallons. I am sure others will be along to give their input shortly :smile:

for the money that would be good, the vertex in 100 or maybe even try to find a used one.

I looked at the NAC6 and can get it for exact same price, however it is not the new cone style and it has the meshwheel, where the NAC5.5 has the Needlewheel. I have read some people have trouble replacing the Mesh style and they even send a spare, almost like they expect it to have a problem.
