Skimmer advice

Bubble Magus is a well trusted brand as is Reef Octopus. Personally I run a Rossmont on my 180 and have no issues with it. The one knock against it is the pump is not internal so it has a very large footprint compared to other models. The trade-off is that it is easy to remove and clean.

I like Red Sea. I have a RSK 300 and a RSK 900. Both work great. Quiet, Easy to clean, Sicce enteral pump and has an internal neck cleaner. You may want look at the RSK 600 depending on footprint.

Here is how mine is setup. Because of the larger footprint, I had to put it in the first chamber instead of the 2nd. The water has to pass through a sponge in order to reach the 2nd section and return pumps so even if I had microbubbles, they would never reach the display.

How old is your skimmer? Perhaps it is still just breaking in? I find microbubbles are most common when it is a new setup.

Got a 125 gallon tank with a 55 gallon sump. Not sure what skimmer I should get ?
Well it depends on what you plan to have in your system.
A Tunze dc skimmer is what I run in my 40 breeder sump with no baffles.
Quiet and efficient.
Easiest cup to clean on any skimmer. You dont even have to turn it off.
I started with a 9410dc in my 120.
I upgraded when no3 got to 20.
My 9430dc keeps no3 at <5.
My 9410dc is in my frag system now.

Can you post a picture of your sump? Maybe a little tinkering will figure it out?
I think this is your answer.
if not there are many skimmers out there that would work, my choice would be the aquamaxx rc-2, trusted body type and sicce pump for $230 is hard to beat
