I thinking about putting my skimmer on a timer to run 12 hr on, 12 hr off. I know this has been done quite a lot, but is there a risk of hydrogen sulfide developing when the skimmer is off? Having water sit in the skimmer body for that long makes me a little nervous. Should I do a shorter cycle?

Thanks!

Curious as well.
I generally have my skimmer turn on at 6 p.m. and shut off at 6 A.M.
To be honest, I haven't heard much about the production of Hydrogen Sulfide in relation to skimming.

I don’t belive it is a concern. It does still get air as it’s not completely sealed like in a reactor that has a very high bacterial content already.
