Skimmer and Meds

I recently used API melafix marine in my DT. the instructions say so a 25 percent water change and put skimmer back on. Overflow should be normal. I did that, loaded up with carbon and turned the skimmer back on. Do I just leave it on and let it overflow and empty it every 2 minutes out until it stops?

You could try (temporarily) dialing it down, although I know getting a skimmer fined-tuned to where you want it is a royal PITA. Does your skimmer have the option of a drain hose on the collection container?

Yes it is an AquaMaxx 1.5 so it does have an emergency drain. Should I let it just overflow through the drain until the cycle slows down?

You could, yes. I’d probably snake some tubing down to the tank so it doesn’t make an absolute mess. This also has the advantage of not sucking your ATO dry or screwing up your salinity.
