I’ve had my protein skimmer off for a week or two to try and keep my nitrates off zero.

Those with ORP or better yet, DO probes, have you seen a significant negative impact trend while not running a skimmer on your system?

A trend, yes, and for me its a warning of future issues. I think the main usefulness, for me, of my apex ORP readings is that it helps me monitor trends in skimmer effectiveness, if I'm over feeding and if something died that I didn't notice...
Chasing numbers on it, however, I don't think is worth it.

Ok. Yea I’m just curious if not running the skimmer will cause a significant loss in dissolved oxygen worth being concerned over in the relation to graphable trend with a ORP or DO probe

yep. absolutely.

Check the data from this article by Eric Borneman
The Need to Breathe, Part 3

A 10 gallon clownfish tank without a skimmer dropped down to 16% DO overnight.
With skimmer, it stayed 80%+. (Fig 1 & 2)

"...The levels were apparently low enough that each night, the clownfish would leave their anemone and adopt a position just under the water's surface directly above a powerhead..."

You can run the skimmer with the collection cup off if you don't want to export.

Thank you. That’s the info I was looking for!
