Skimmer and skimmer pump

Hello all,

Another dumb question that is confusing me. To have a skimmer in your sump, do you also have to buy a pump for it?

Yes. No matter the location of your skimmer, it needs a a pump to operate

So besides the return pump that will be that last section of the sump, i'll also need to get another one for the skimmer, that's it? And can it be the same as the other one?

Generally when you purchase a skimmer the pump is included.

Ok thanks, i'm more relieved now. When i asked i wanted to know if it was really required to do it, but guess not!

They can be different or the same. The skimmer pump needs to suck in air before the impeller so that the impeller can "grind" the bubbles.

Thanks. I thought that i'd have to spend some good money on another pump, but for now that wont be necessary. As far as i know all skimmers have pumps included.
