I'm looking at adding an HOB skimmer to my biocube and ditching the Tunze 9001. The tunze is quiet, but in order to mount it, I have to have my light bracket off center, and it's one of them things that just annoys me.

Looking at the Aquamaxx HOB-1 and the RO-Classic 100 HOB skimmers. Trying to figure out where I would mount them. I would think you want to mount them on the right side of the tank (looking from the front) with the intake sitting in the first chamber. But with the light shifted a little bit to be centered, I may have to mount a skimmer so the intake is in the middle chamber, with the return in the return chamber. If that makes any sense.

I would mount it so the intake is center and return in the return. Are you familiar with Mame Skimmers? They are perfect for the AIO's. Great skimmers, non-intrusive and you can DIY one big time cheap.

I am not familiar with that. Looks like it has a stone, which drove me away from the coralife skimmer.

I had a Deepwater HOB skimmer on my BC29 for a few months.

Had the intake in the first chamber and the output flowing onto filter floss in the top of an InTank media basket in the second.
