So I'm in the middle of cycling my tank and I had a few questions. I'm running a fluval PS1 skimmer. I was wondering if the cup gets full of dirty water if that is good? Also I want to run some kind of carbon bag or mechanical filter besides a filter floss in the back. Any recommendations?

I really see no need in a skimmer during cycling period . but the goal your want to achieve in skimate is dark in color.. chemi pure, phosguard work well in the back . Chemi pure is a mixture of carbon an gfo

Really it's not a true cycle because the water is from an established tank and it has a little bit of live rock from said tank along with a GSP and hermit crab. More a curing of my dry rock and gear, ammonia 0, nitrates 0, nitrites 1ppm. I definitely appreciate the advice though. :)[emoji1362]

Oh also
When you refer to skimate you mean the water after it foams into the cup or the foam itself.
