Skimmer Cleaning Question?

How often to you do a thorough cleaning of your skimmer?

I clean the cup weekly during my normal water change but I've noticed coraline algae and other things growing or just collecting inside the body of my skimmer. I'm just curious how often others actually pull their skimmer out of the sump and soak it in white vinegar or other cleaning methods?

I try to deep clean mine at least once a year. I fill a bucket with rodi water and add some vinegar and let it soak. Then go in with a brush and scrub scrub scrub

I did a deep cleaning after running the skimmer for a year and half and the thing went crazy for about 10 days... now I just clean the cup. I am sure some day I am going to do a deep clean again but I probably would have something for backup just in case it overflows again.
