Skimmer clearance?

So I found this sump the other day online for sale and could not turn it down for the price was just wondering If this is too big for the cabinet I have 7 inch of clearance for skimmer cap is that enough for the average skimmer cap my tank is 55 gallons

That's going to tepend on the size of the tank & how big a skimmer your going to need for it. The cup only needs about 2-3" above the top of it to come off the skimmer. I see more of an issue getting the skimmer out to clean it every so often.

Edit: after rereading i see yours is 55gl. I think you would have enough room to remove cup for cleaning. Is the space behind the 2x4 open at the top.
What you want to do is measure from the inside bottom of your sump to the top of the inside of your stand, that gives you the measurement to decide what skimmer you need that will allow you to remove the cup.

I don’t think it will be a problem since I’ll just drain it for water changes and slide it out i am going to be plumbing it with tubing so I’ll unhook then.
