Which skimmer would you buy ATB 840 or SRO 3000?

I was in the same situation last year and went with the ATB 840..very happy with it.

I was using a Tunze nano skimmer..LOL. Never had a sump before 'til now.

I have 4 tanks running in line with each other the display tank is a 120, the 55 is a sump, the 20L holds the skimmer and a 75 gallon frag tank. I have a euroreef cs-1 and a turbofloater Multi running and I can't find the nitrate source so I am hoping a bigger skimmer will help.

WEll I have owned both now. The ATB is more quiet for sure. Both are good choices. But I think the ATB has some nice features that would still make it a little better choice

I have 4000 gph turn over in the display alone never took the time to calculate the other tanks but none of them have less then 20x turnover. I am considering taking all of the rock out of the display to vaccum it up along the back wall.

How many gallons in your system?

Mine is in about 150gallons total. this skimmer is over kill for my system.
I know someone running the medium in a 220 gallon with non photosynthetic corals, and his feedings are something ridiculous 9times a day only for corals. He had and ATI before the ATB and he said the ATB far out skims the ATI.FWIW.

The SRO or XP2000 is more comparable to the ATB 840. FWIW

So you are saying the SRO 3000 is the better choice then?

For that much volume i'd go with the sro3000
