I’m looking for ideas on how to integrate me skimmer with my apex. My skim is dumped to the drain and my 1 gal/night water change is rinsing the skim bucket and waste line. Works perfectly unless my skim gets too aggressive. My current idea is to set up a tee in the effluent line, which is larger and vertical. When the flow is excessive, the chamber floods rapidly before the water gets to the smaller drain line. An apex optical sensor in the chamber triggers to shut off on the skimmer and sends an alert.

Does anyone have similar DIY experience or setups they can share? Is there a slicker solution?

90-gal DT. 600 GPH basement sump.

While my skimmer is external this might work for you. It has a air intake that when it gets too aggressive as you say, the air intake is covered with water. This prevents it from making foam and overflowing the cup.
