Hey folks. I have a eshopps 100. Hang on back skimmer. I recent upgraded
From a 25 to a 72 bow front. I hooked the skimmer up all was well after a few days of break in. The skimmer cup is filling up
With water now, to the point I turned it way down last night and woke up this morning with a huge mess of overflow of water. The only change I've made is I added a sump and Refugium. I silicones my baffles. I have heard glue can do this but how about silicone? Any tips or ideas? I had to clean up and shut the skimmer off as I had to go to work.

I don't know anything about that skimmer. But when I put my reef octopus bh 1000 on my sump I had to raise the collection cup a few times due to wet skimming. After about a week the skimmer was skimming and I was able to lower the cup. Hope that helps.

I have found on my DIY skimmer that not only can you be wet skimming, you can create a sort of siphon with the rising bubbles.Raising the whole skimmer should help it run drier.

Raising out of the water a little? Sorry I'm still pretty new to this

Raise your cup so the bubbles reach the very bottom of the neck. See where the foam is at the very bottom?

Alot of additives to the water column will totally screw up a skimmer, given a day or 2 it should settle down by itself. Did you check the air intake line for salt creep? That will make th skimmer overflow.

I have the answer. I also have the Eshopps 100-H. The problem is that the black foam piece gets on the skimmer gets clogged. This doesn't allow the water to escape the skimmer, and drives up the water level in the skimmer until smelly wet carpet and crabby wife. This is a bad design which is easily fixed. Remove the foam filter and intall it on the top of the tuning pipe for some noise abatement. Fixed!
