What are you guys favorite skimmers rated for 300+ gallons? My sump is 12 3/8 " wide and the skimmer will have to fit.

12 3/8" by what, and how much water depth. I run a reef octopus SRO6000INT

12 3/8 is the width of the tank. The skimmer section is 37" x 12 3/8 x 21. The portion of the sump it'll be in has 18 inches of water but my current skimmer sits on a stand 8 inches down.

If you are going to the show in NY this weekend, stop by the Reef2Reef booth. ATB-USA is giving away a ATB 8.5 Deluxe Protein Skimmer in the Reef2Reef Raffle.

Never heard of Beckett. I'll have to research that

MRC and MTC make some very good Beckett skimmers. I ended up with a MTC MVX mazzei venturi. Jeff at MTC also makes an incredible external dual mazzei skimmer that you can get made at any height. Usually they start at 48" and I've seen several 72" and above ones out there.

I'm reviewing the MTC MVX right now. It's a long running review as I'm playing around with different configurations. Which is a big plus for these types of skimmers. You are not tied to any one pump, plumbing, injector, etc.

looks like you have around 37" height. Personally I'd call up either Jeff at Life Reef or Jeff at MTC and they can both custom size a skimmer to fit perfectly in there. You aren't locked into the standard heights. Jeff at MTC is a little harder to get a hold of. Email and then phone calls and letting the phone ring many times usually works.

Edit: and thinking about it I bet the standard 36" MVX with out the quick change head would fit in there just right. The quick change head is supposed to add 3". My 36" with quick change head is slightly over 37" (but I don't have that handle thing on top either he made it with out for me). Need about 1/2" clearance to remove the top with the thumbscrews. With the quick change head it slides right off practically no clearance needed. So, maybe even that might fit assuming that 37" is including the tank bottom to the top.

Bashsea is another maker of a beckett style skimmer that looks interesting that I was considering as well. Becketts draw in an incredible amount of air but have a bit more maintenance to their injectors and definitely need a high pressure rated pump to get their full potential. But there's some DC pumps coming out now that do handle higher head pressures.

Thanks for the info! The 37" I have is the sump itself but I have about two feet of free space about that haha. I do like quick disconnect heads. My current skimmer is a Reef Octopus 150nw and I like it. It's just too small now.

I finally decided to buy the new skimmer because my LFS had a sale. I ended up purchasing a SRO3000
