You have given me a good idea. I may end up doing something similar. Thanks a lot for this. Thanks, I've only had it running for maybe 4 days so I can't say for sure what my results will be, but I have no reason to believe that it won't grow algae.

You should add a thread on the diy forum on this. Very cool solution that I think would appeal to people!Cool idea I going to save the picture. I got a couple of those filters
Erk, while I appreciate the feedback I'm not really interested in going that route. It's a total water volume of about 50 gallons and I have some space concerns in my sump as well. A counter current monster isn't a viable solution for me. Also warranty is important and I don't mind paying for new.
I also use reef oct 110int on my 40b... mostly zoas and shrooms...some lpsWhile my 40 breeder isn't sps dominant, I use the Reef Octupus 110INT and love itQuiet, broke in fast, and always pulls a good skim for me

Nice. I like the sound of that. What water level did you set this at?So far it's awesome. Definitely larger than the other skimmers I've had. But I popped it in the tank, turned it on, set the water level and it was skimming within a couple of hours. It's a very high quality piece of equipment. For the same price as a bubble magus it's on another level.
