I'm looking for a good protein skimmer for a 55g that will be placed in a 30g sump. Also should I base my filtration levels around 55 gallons or 85 gallons? I do like the coralife 125 skimmer, would that work?

I just finished my 55 gallon build with a 20 gallon sump and I used a reef octopus 110s. Thing does an awesome job and well worth the money

I recommend staying away from the coralife skimmers. They are super touchy, prone to floods and leaks etc. Ask me how I know. I can 100% recommend Aqua c remora skimmers, and ive seen nothing but good about the octopus as well.

I use the bubble magus curve 5 for my 55g DT

I’m just running a fresh water Fluval LED for my fuge and a Fluval 48” reef LED for my display tank only because a local pet store is getting ready to close down and all their Fluval stuff is 60% off. There are a lot better lights out there but they work just fine for what I need and got them dirt cheap(I don’t really do much SPS)

I am having a lot of trouble with my curve 5 on my 60 g. How is your s doing.

its weird... month it will go good then it will go crazy and overflow like crazy... its such a weird skimmer

I have a bubble magus curve a5. Avoid this, it's wet hot garbage. In the 7 months I've had it I've maybe had one week where it was adjusted so that it worked correctly. It's super touchy and will overflow if you look at it wrong. I'm fed up and am looking for a replacement.
