Need to replace old skimmer on a slightly overstocked 29G Biocube. Needs to either fit in 1st compartment or 2nd compartment beside a intank media basket. Recommendations on the best and/or most powerful.

Thanks!

Following as I'm also looking to make a change on my 32. I have the Tunze 9001 in chamber 2 currently and cannot keep it skimming for the life of me unless I basically submerge it all the way to the skimmer cup. I may try the AquaticLife 115 in chamber 1 next but I'm looking for other alternatives too. Options are fairly limited for us I think.

I have a Tunze 9002 w/ air mod in the 2nd chamber with an InTank basket. It's a tight fit. Works fine but I do need to keep my water level as high as possible. I keep it about 1/4 inch below the top of the basket. Here's the mod, I highly recommend doing it.

I ran the most current tune that in tank sells less than 2 years ago, I was very disappointed in its performance. Had it in the 2nd chamber with an in tank media basket, and had an a to so water level was consistent. Not much better than running nothing.

I'm betting your water level wasn't high enough. If mine's too low that's exactly what happens, little to no production.

Tunze 9001 DC controllable fits perfect in chamber 2

So after seeing your first post here i raised my water level a bit to the point that the emergency slit from chamber 2 into 3 is getting a little flow through it and adjusted the Tunze. So far its skimming as consistently ever. I didnt mod it yet but i may try it.
Thx for the tip, if it continues to skim this way for a week or so ill keep it amd see how it performs.

Can you throw me an update on the Icecap skimmer? I'm still not happy with my Tunze. How's the fit, skimmate production and could you close the lid? Thx

I never got it installed...I couldn't get the lid on my biocube to close. I'm going to look around and see what others did, but haven't had the chance. I can't go opentank as I have a cat that would love me for it.

Bummer....I was holding out hope it might work for me. How close was the lid to closing? I ask cuz my BC 32 is 2" taller than the BC29.

I'm thinking 2 inches will probably make all the difference in the world. If you want to check around the web and if you can verify for yourself that it'll work, let me know if you're interested in buying mine (in case I can't figure anything out).
