There are more option for these today than say a couple years ago. At least better options.
I would look at the following.
SWC 120 cone
BM NAC 3 or 6
SRO 1000
ATB multi
all those would work well just off the top of my head. THe thing with a smaller tank with a lower load is you dont want too large of a neck on the skimmer. IT will take too much load to produce a head of foam and it will dirty up the neck great but not collect really well.
