I bit the bullet and invested into Cade PRS2 1200. So far I have a Vectra M2 in the post, the lights will be the illumagic blaze x with vitamini wings (if needed). I plan to turn this into a mixed reef, or SPS dominant to total SPS with a medium bioload. I will also be purchasing one or two maxspect gyres.

I'm looking at the skimmer right now, and cant decide what I should be aiming for, the red sea 525XL seems to be paired with the NYOS 160 a lot.

The Bubble King Mini 160 (non dc) on my Red Sea S-400 has been alright perfection. Its waterline hits right about 8.5" inside the S-Serie sump. but they are high dollar skimmers.

The BK Mini 180 dc might be a good call (depending on your bio-load / feeding habits) and those BK skimmers are built like a masterpiece.

Going to stay put with BK skimmers on larger setups. They're like central heat and air, set and forget, they just stay dialed in.

Shaun,
Which NYOS skimmer are you running on your Red Sea S-650?

Seems like you've been happy with your NYOS skimmer.

I'm an Aussie (Melbourne) so I don't think we have bubble kings here, ive been looking at the tunze 9410 DC, nyos 160 and RSK 600

If you’re in australia the great white is a great skimmer. if you care that much about sound (i do) this thing is one of the quietest (comparable to bubble king i reckon - for sound not for quality bubble king is #1)

I think GW-7 is borderline . It depends on your bioload.
But the GW-12 is more than enough.
The DC pump they use is a very good pump.

If you Google:
Royal Exclusive in Australia, then they're not hard to find down there.

That Tunze 9410 looks good, they do make good skimmers when you stay within their larger sized skimmers.

Wonder.. if you can get Deltec skimmers "Down Under"???

We can. The 1000i is the same price as the tunze dc

My RD3 100watt Dc return pump and my Supermarin 200 + RD3 were both ordered from Aquabella, the Australian agent for Royal Exclusiv, talk to Nick and see what they would recommend.
Exxy kit down here in OZ though due to freight and postage, you are lucky you are in Melbourne, freight to W.A. cost me a small fortune.
If you are hesitant about investing the $ in an R/E skimmer, take a look at the Reef Octopus Regal series, similar in build and design to the R/E comes with DC variable Varios pump as well.

Bit the bullet and bought the 9410 DC, everybody loves them
