Skimmer for a biocube

What's the best for a 30 cube with the built in fuge?

The stock one actually did well for me after it balanced itself out.
If you do adequate water changed you really don't need it unless you have a high bio load.
But I did find that once I removed it be issue I no longer needed it that my ph dropped because of the lower levels of oxygen so keep that in mind!

Look at my review of the Aquatic Life Mini Skimmer 115. I have it on my Biocube after two of the Corallife mini skimmers. Those were junk. This one doesnt have an airstone so no need to worry about replacement. It ls about $20 more than the Corallife and it requires some mods but works well. I explain all of it in my post.

I've been waiting for my tank to cycle and setup but I have my heart set on an Aquamaxx HOB-1... Probably sometime after the new year. Going to modify my hood so the back of it is open to the air 100%.

agreed AL 115 that is what I had on mine that thing rocked but at first you will get micr bubbles for a couple of weeks it fit perfectly in back compartment with out any mods

I ran the AL 115 as well, I ran it in the 1st chamber so the water level stayed the same. I built a stand out of egg crate to keep it on. It ran pretty good once dialed in.

I had a ghost nano skimmer it worked well, very long break in period. about every 3 days the collection cup would be full. It's also a very tight fit.

Under where is your review. And does the aquatic life skimmer fit in chamber 1 with a lid?

Your better off with the Aquamaxx, I've been running a Innovative Marine's Ghost skimmer - Mid Size and it works great until my Tunze Osmolator acts up and over fills the back part of the biocube then the skimmer goes to $h1t because it's dependent on consistent water level for proper skimming. If I had known this I would have gone HOB brah. -Alex
