Ok.
I've recently purchased a skimmer that's Waayyy bigger than my current system needs. Way way bigger.
I'm wondering if I were to put it on my system anyway, if there would be an appreciable increase in water quality, as far as gas exchange goes? (Lower CO2, increased ph, possibly higher ORP) I pull outside air in to feed the current skimmer.
I would not be running it to skim, would probably only have the water level halfway or so inside the skimmer body.
I guess once a week or so I would raise the water level up for a few hours to skim the tank.
Any thoughts or experiences?
TIA

I just went from a coral box d700 skimmer to a reef octopus diablo 200 external with a varios skimmer pump and I saw a ph increase. I only have about 140 gallons total volume so the new skimmer is way oversized but my ph went from 7.95 to 8.05 on an average day one I installed it.
