SKIMMER FOR WATERBOX 10?

1) Do you NEED a skimmer for a 10 gallon nano mixed reef?
- If not, what can I do to ensure reef health without a skimmer?
2) What skimmer would you recommend in a Waterbox CUBE 10?

Hi there.

I’m building a list of compatible skimmers for the WB Peninsula Mini 25.
The challenge is to find skimmer that fits in the 80mm (3.15”) wide sump in these AIO tanks.

I haven’t purchased the tank so I can’t tell you if these work well.
When I reached out to WB they recommended the Tunze DOC 9001.

So far I have identified the following nano skimmers that seem to fit:
In-sump:

• NuvoSkim DC
• Tunze DOC 9001 (DC pump option)
• AquaMedic EVO 500 (DC pump)
• AquaMaxx NS1
• Bubble Magus QQ2
• Redseastar SQ-50 and SQ-70

Hang On Back (HOB):

• Reef Octopus (Octo) Classic Skimmer 100-HOB
• Aqua Medic EVO 1000 (DC pump)
• Bubble Magus QQ1

It might even fit in the first baffle (3x3”) by mounting the pump underneath...

That's very helpful for someone who is also planning a 25 P Mini, great work!

You can try getting a HOB Refugium on eBay or an AquaClear 110, and use that to stock whatever skimmer fits that and use your in-tank sump for something else, like fill it with matrix or add an LED and some Chaeto although some people wouldn't recommend that as some Chaeto can make it's way into your Display tank. Each to their own. I see no problem with taking some random chaeto out of my Display occasionally.
