Hi guys, Im looking at skimmers that dont break the bank but good enough got a decent bioload for a Waterbox 220.6
The DT is 167 Gallons and sump is 33 gallons.
There is a used Reef Octupus 200 Classic for $300, but waterbox on youtube suggested one rated for 200 gallons light bioload.
Im new, first tank so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Get the largest skimmer you can comfortably fit and forget any "bioload" recommendations. A larger skimmer will have a larger collection cup - which means a longer interval been emptying (see: vacation). And if possible, get one with an external drain so that you have the option of draining to a container (prevents overflowing while on vacation).

And since you never know what kind of fish you're going to end up with, this gives you more flexibility down the road without having to potentially upgrade.

Get a good reputable skimmer (Reef Octopus, Bubble Magus, Nyos, etc.). You may pay a little more initially but you'll save on maintenance and performance later.

I went with a Nyos Quantum 160 on my 200-gallon system, and while it works awesome - I have a lot of fish and find myself emptying it more often than I'd like (in hindsight, the Quantum 220 would've been a better fit).
