Skimmer Freak Out Question

Hello,

So, certain things make the skimmer freak out. New filter sock and certain epoxies are examples. Does the quality of skimmer come into play at all when this happens? Will better skimmers not freak out with these things or does that not matter?....

Considering a skimmer upgrade....

I have had lots of brands . My most expensive was a bubble king 180 ( retail about $1,000). They all "freak out " in my experience.

No, they all freak out, some more than others, but generally water conditioners, filter socks, aquamend type of putty, chemiclean....etc all make them freak. When it comes to food each has its own personality though as some freak out and others do not.

If a synthetic frag station causes the skimmer to wildly overflow is that something that you think would calm down over time (like the sock and epoxy examples) ???
