skimmer gunk overflowed into sump

i was doin a water change just now forgot to unplug the skimmer as i was turning on the return and all and everything and the skimmer overflowed everything that was in the collection cup back into the sump now my tank is really cloudy will this harm my fish?

i have reef octopus 150sss and the cup was about halfway full

How many total gallons is in your system? Nitrates will probably jump up a bit, but I don't think it will harm the fish. Clean the collection cup, and get the skimmer running again. Can also do a water change too.

Empty the skimmer and get it going again and it will remove it. It came from tank and went back into the tank. It wont hurt anything.

feel a little better now after that marine velvet hit my tank everything that happens now scares me lol

its 180 total gallons 150 tank plus 30g sump and i just did a 32g water change so i used all my saltwater will have to mix some more just in case i need to do a quick water change

That's a good amount of volume. You can get away without a water change and just do your next scheduled water change.
