i have had my skimmer running for about three weeks now and I have changed the water level a bunch of times to try to get some of the nasty green stuff up the cup and over into it. But I seem to be having trouble running it corectlly so I cleaned it really good tonight and turned it back on to see if I could get some feed back on my tunning problems. By the way the Skimmer is a Reef octopus Diablo.

What level should just the water level not the bubbles just the water level be at what part to skim the bad stuff out of top and over Into the can

hi Tyler, how old is your tank? also, skimmers need time to start pulling the dark stuff out. Normally a in sump skimmer needs between 6 to 9 inches of water to sit in but check your manual to be sure. then fine tune it with the valve to get the bubbles at the right level in your cup. hope this helps.

I ran into the same issue a few months back when my tank and protein skimmer was too new to actually have any gunk to pull out. I also had my skimmer too deep as mine needs to be very close to 6 inches, and not the 9-10 inches I had it in.
