well i have a chance to buy a ASM MINI-G Protein Skimmer for 50 bucks just want to make sure that its not too much skimmer for my 12 gal nano

They are rated for 75 gallons I believe. It might be a little much for your tank. The pump might heat up the water just a tad too much in that volume of water.
