skimmer hob for 250 gallon tank

Good Morning every one im kinda in a stump i have a friend that has a 250 gallon tank thats not drilled with a over flow and has no room for a sump tank. She needs a skimmer im looking on line for a hob but lost all i can find is up to 200 gallons im starting to thing she might have to run two skimmers for her tank i was looking at the [h=1]Octopus Hang On Back BH-2000[/h]but two would only give her 250 gallons im trying to her 300 gallons or better any suggestions would b great thank you all kindly

I didn't know they had HOB's rated for 200gallons, I didn't think they went over 100 gallons. But then again I don't browse the internet looking for em either. Good to know though...

I too didn’t know they made big HOB skimmers….but then again, I wasn’t looking.


Here’s my two cents: Any skimmer is better than none at all. Try putting one BH-2000 on there and see how it works. You could always add another later.

Check out lifereef. Jeff has some rated. For 250 and I think 350. I love mine. Had to custom make the hanger/holder for me and was perfect. Great guy. Great skimmed

Thank you spscray for the suggestion i just sent an email to him thanks again this is starting to drive me batty my only other thought is hanging too reef octos bh-2000's its better than none her tank crashed and she had no live rock and no skimmer so im trying to get her up to par with out breaking the whole thing down she uses 2 canisters for a filter i will b changing that too soon

Just wondering were you able to get a skimmer from lifereef that would work for you?

not as of yet they said they could build a brace for a cone skimmer

I'm not 100% sure but it may be hard to find a HOB, or even 2 that would be sufficient for that tank, IMO. I have a reef octopus HOB 1000 model and love it.....but I'd say it is sufficient for about a 50gallon reef - half of what it's rated for. Would it be possible to use an overflow and externally plumbed skimmer, just sitting on the floor nearby?
