When I first had my tank I was given a coralline super protein skimmer.. it passed away a few months ago. I picked up a nice little foot print skimmer made by Pro Clear Aquatic systems and this thing rocked at making dry skimmate for a month or so then it got into really wet skimmate and started over flowing the cup within a few min no matter if I raised it onto a base up out of the water more, opened the air line all the way, swore at it like it just cut me off in traffic.. I even tried talking nice to it, but that didn't work either. What would make a skimmer go bonkers like this?

I am skimmer-less until I can meet up with a shop keeper at a LFS tonight around 7. I am overly ecstatic that they are willing to meet me at their shop when it will be closed. This just means they will be getting a lot more of my business after tonight for sure! He has a Eshop skimmer he is willing to sell me for $40. Anyone have experience with the Eshop skimmer that looks like this one?

Not very familiar with that one, but at $40 it's almost too cheap. It looks kind of old in design and I don't see any air intake control. Just my personal opinion, but I'd live without one and save until you can afford a better one. There are nice new controllable skimmers out there for around $225 that would be way better IMHO.

And if you are willing to buy used, I'd be watching the R2R for sale forum. I recently got an almost new Photon V2+ led fixture for just 2/3rds the cost of new!
