Skimmer level too low after cleaning?

I cleaned my skimmer today, a curve 8. Now the highest the water level will go Is about an inch bellow where the cup should start. It won't even reach the smaller tube inside the cup. Any advice?

Just clarifying, water level or top of foam is too low?

Water level, I've added a photo. I've never had this issue after cleaning before. There was lots of calcification on the air intake so after removing this and cleaning the pump the water level now only goes so high.
