Hello guys,

I recently did a Chemiclean cycle and as expected my skimmer lost its marbles. Did the recommended aprox 20% WC and waited few days with no improvement on that matter (cyano is gone though). Did another 20% WC and a few days later he is still foaming from its cup like a shaken coke bottle. I've adjusted the valve one way and another and no change.
Will he ever come back to its original self?

The skimmer is reacting to the higher saturation of nutrients/organics/ chemicals in the water. When I used chemiclean it worked well but I had to do 10% water changes for about a week to ensure stability. I turned my skimmer offline during that time and when I was satisfied water quality was back where it was I turned the skimmer back on. hope this helps

What did you check for water quality? Did PO4 and/or No3went up for you after chemiclean?

yes it did slightly but it wasnt a problem for me- when my po4 and nitrates went above my comfortable range i would just do a small water change to bring them down - and on amore long term note I found it beneficial to figure out what was the source of the problem in order to avoid cyano and algae rather than rely on off the shelf medication. Maybe to much feeding ? ramp up on the clean up crew ?
