Skimmer noise

Hi All,

i was expecting a bit of noise from the water flow and the pumps, which i got, but my protein skimmer, from aqua one, makes a heck of a racket. i found if i tilt it it gets a bit quieter but not much, are there any good tips for trying to reduce the noise?

is it a HOB one with an airline tube coming out of the motor? if so, some people create sort of a silencer for it. Cut the bottom of a water bottle off and put the tube throw the cap then tape it so it cant fall out. People say it works , never tried it though.
