Skimmer not foaming

I added a new mp10 to my tank the other day and forgot to rinse if off under water before I put it in the tank and ever since then my protein skimmer won't foam up...Has anyone had this happen to them before? I'm guessing whatever oils were on the pump is making it hard for my skimmer to make foam kind of like when I put my hands in the tank...Any idea how long this will last for?

You are correct about oils and the skimmer. Eventually the oils will collect somewhere in the system
You can try washing the skimmer in case the oils have collected within the skimmer.

if you skimmer overkill with the tank, they still won't make the foam

I found the problem...for some reason the new mp10 I put in the tank had some sort of grease smeared all over the inside of the wet side...I cleaned it off and it seems to be working fine, the skimmer seems to be back running again.
